Coconut insulation

The Portuguese word «coco» in translation means a monkey. In the XVth century the mariners mistook the fruit of the coconut palm for this animal's snout. Besides, there is another version of the origin of the Spanish «coco». It is a ghost. And, indeed, three ovules at the base of the coconut resemble a ghost. The import of  the «wonderful» nuts began only at the beginning of the XIXth century, and at the same time, the mankind discovered the amazing properties of the coconut fibers.

High-strength, water-resistant and resistant to rotting, the coconut material has proven itself in a variety of applications:

- heat and sound insulation of various building structures, such as the walls and partitions, intermediate floors, floors, roofs;

- filler for mattresses;

- the decoration of the premises and furniture components;

- the production of rope and cordage;

- as a plant substrate;

- strengthening the shorelines, preventing landslides.

The exceptional in its own way the structure and composition of the fibers themselves caused the widespread use of the coconut fibers. The fibers walls consist of cellulose, and the more lignin content is, the more the fiber gets a brown color. The soft white fibers are made from non-ripened fruit, stiffer fibers of reddish-brown color are made from fully ripened one.

Bauplit Cocos is the natural heat insulation based on the coconut fiber. It is the novelty that has no analogues in the field of the construction. Its composition contains 85% the coconut fibers and 15% inert and absolutely safe polyester resins. The calibrated coconut fibers are bonded together with the stream of hot air and formed into the sheets.
